Minister Selaković: A very successful visit to Equatorial Guinea
Minister Selaković said that he talked today with the President, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and added that the Ministers of Security, Defence, Agriculture, Deputy Ministers of Health and Social Welfare also attended the meetings.
He pointed out that although Equatorial Guinea is geographically far from Serbia, it nevertheless actively supports us in our fight for Kosovo and Metohija and the protection of territorial integrity and sovereignty. “The President of Equatorial Guinea visited Belgrade more than 40 years ago, however he expressed readiness to visit our country again,” said Minister Selaković, adding that we expect a visit from the Vice President in the first half of this year.
He also said that he signed six important agreements with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Equatorial Guinea: the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the two governments, Agreement on abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Agriculture, Memorandum of Cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations and Memorandum on the donation of 30,000 “AstraZeneca” vaccines to the people of Equatorial Guinea.
Minister Selaković pointed out that he met today with the representatives and workers employed in our companies in Equatorial Guinea, noting that those companies were doing well and that there were currently about 60 of our citizens in that country.
In this regard he stated that there were great opportunities for deepening economic cooperation and for that reason among the member of our delegation were also the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Sector for Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Equatorial Guinea is a country that, following the discovery of oil sources, invested large amounts of money in the development of infrastructure, energy independence, as well as in healthy drinking water being an urgent need everywhere in the world”, he said.
Minister Selaković stated that Serbia continued to develop friendly relations with the countries of Central Africa, and that his next destinations after Equatorial Guinea were Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe and Cameroon.
“These are all friends who showed respect for Serbia and came to Belgrade at the conference on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)”, Minister Selaković noted, concluding that they all had a picture of Serbia as a country that was growing, developing and recording considerable economic and political success.
