Đurić confers with newly appointed Ambassador of Australia to Serbia, Peter George Truswell
Minister Đurić emphasized that there is ample room for further development of cooperation in a range of areas and underlined the importance of enhancing political dialogue and high-level exchanges.
On the topic of economic relations, the Minister pointed to the need for more robust trade exchange and a greater presence of Australian investments in Serbia. In this context, he highlighted the role of the Australia-Serbia Chamber of Commerce based in Melbourne.
Đurić informed the Ambassador about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, expressing concern over the increasingly frequent pressures and acts of violence against the Serbian population. He stressed that such occurrences pose a serious threat to dialogue and regional stability.
Particular attention was given to the Serbian community in Australia, which the Minister sees as an important bridge between the two countries. He noted that the community makes a meaningful contribution to Australian society and represents a valuable potential for further strengthening bilateral ties.
Expressing hope that Australia will take part in the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, Minister Đurić stated that confirmation of Australia's participation would be a significant step toward future cooperation.
Minister Đurić extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Truswell and wished him a successful mandate, expressing confidence that his tenure will contribute to the further advancement of relations between Serbia and Australia.
