ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia do not need visa for tourist visits of up to 3 months, as well as for transit. For visas and other information please contact the Embassy of Panama in Athens.
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia do not require a visa, provided that they have a valid multiple-entry visa or residence permit in the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain or other EU countries.
Cash amounts over 10,000 US dollars must be reported. All travellers must prove that they have at least 500 USD available, in cash, traveler's checks or a credit card with the latest statement. A 40 USD departure tax is charged to each passenger leaving the country.
Bringing in hunting weapons is subject to obtaining a permit.
Travellers are allowed to bring pets subject to presenting animal health certificate from the veterinary institution of the Republic of Serbia, proving the health status and vaccination against rabies.
Bringing in dairy products is prohibited.
SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
Agreement on collaboration in the field of social security between the SFRY and the Republic of Panama was signed on 26 November, 1975, which regulates the services provided by social security institutions to citizens residing in another country when working on public facilities of common interest for both countries (works performed by companies of one state within the geographical borders of another state as public works, and where the state in which the facility is built appears as the beneficiary).
USEFUL INFORMATION
HEALTH SITUATION — Vaccination against yellow fever ie. having an International Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is recommended. It is recommended to take out a travel health insurance.
It is recommended to use bottled water, to avoid eating at street food stands, and to use repellents.
SECURITY SITUATION — The crime rate in Panama is high, and travellers are advised to exercise a high degree of caution. It is recommended to avoid taxi cabs on public roads, especially at night and in the suburb areas of the Panama City. If taking hiking or nature trips, it is advisable to be accompanied by professionals and to be in contact with local authorities.
Torrential rains are frequent. The rainy season lasts from May to October. Light clothing is recommended throughout the year.
TRANSPORT — Important airports include Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, and domestic airports of Chiriqui, Bocas del Toro and Puerto Balboa. There is no rail traffic.
Motor vehicles may be operated with the Serbian driving license up to 90 days, and it is necessary to have an insurance policy.
OTHER INFORMATION — The Panamanian balboa (PAB) is the national currency, but US dollars are also accepted. All international credit cards are accepted in larger cities, but in small towns and more remote areas cash is required.
