ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia need to have a travel document valid for at least three months after the planned date for leaving the territory of Slovakia. The period of validity of a passport for regulating a stay must be 3 months after the expiry of the requested stay.
For entering the Slovak Republic, citizens of the Republic of Serbia do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days during a period of 180 days. Slovak authorities apply regulations related to the stay of foreign nationals strictly, so there is no willingness to tolerate a stay longer than 90 days.
If the stay is in private accommodation, it must be reported to the local foreigners’ police within 3 days of entering the country. A hotel stay involves automatic registration.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
An international agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Slovak Republic defines cooperation in the field of health insurance, and insurance holders of the Republic Fund for Health Insurance may use medical assistance in case of emergency interventions under certain conditions.
An agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Slovak Republic on engaging in paid work for members of families employed in their diplomatic missions, consular representative offices or missions with international organisations was signed on 9 September 2019. The provisions of this agreement envisage, inter alia, that dependents of a member of a diplomatic mission or consular representative office may, based on reciprocity, be authorised to perform paid work within the territory of the receiving country in accordance with this agreement.
USEFUL INFORMATION:
SECURITY SITUATION – The security situation is stable.
TRANSPORT – The most important airports in the Slovak Republic are in Bratislava and Košice. If using the airport in Vienna, transport to Bratislava is provided by buses leaving every hour. Tickets are purchased with the driver, or electronically. An airline between Niš and Bratislava has been established by the private airline Ryanair, with flights operating twice per week. The use of motorways requires having an electronic vignette, purchasable at designated locations and nearly all gas stations. Control is by way of cameras and vehicles set up along roads. The maximum speed on motorways is 130 kilometres per hour, while on local roads the speed limit is 90 kilometres per hour. In settlements, the maximum speed is 50 kilometres per hour. A Serbian driver’s licence may be used in transit through Slovakia, and during a tourist stay. Citizens of the Republic of Serbia residing in Slovakia for more than six months and holding a residence permit must replace their licence for a Slovak one with the competent body within 60 days of the expiry of the 185 days as of starting their residence in Slovakia.
