Political relations
Political relations are traditionally good and friendly with no open issues. There is an interest expressed on both sides for the enhancement of a high and top-level political dialogue and for the development of bilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on trade and economic relations. In the last few years, the political dialogue has significantly intensified.
The President of the Republic of Serbia A. Vučić visited Kazakhstan on 9−10 October 2018, by invitation of former President N. Nazarbayev. Former President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia M. Gojković participated in the the Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments on 23−24 September 2019, in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), where Mrs. Gojković met with the President of the Mazhilis (the lower house) of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nigmatulin.
Former First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia I. Dačić paid a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan on 11 December 2017.
Economic relations
In 2021, total exchange of goods amounted to 243.121 million US dollars (205.609 million euros), of which Serbian export accounted for 7.295 million US dollars (6.148 million euros) and imports for 235.826 million US dollars (199.461 million euros). Our exports decreased by about 35%, while imports increased by about 135%. During 2020, the total level of goods exchange between the two countries amounted to approximately 113.8 million US dollars (Serbian export was 11.3 million US dollars and import approximated 102.5 US dollars). During 2019, the total level of goods exchange between the two countries amounted to approximately 16.6 million US dollars (Serbian export was 12.8 million US dollars and import approximated 3.8 million US dollars).
Serbia exports to Kazakhstan aluminium structures and parts, floor tiles, wooden furniture, elevators, pneumatic tires for automobiles, paper and cardboard, fruit seedlings, medicines, etc. Kazakhstan exports to Serbia gas, fuel and lubricants, beans and green beans, flax seeds, etc.
Bilateral agreements
Up to now, 21 international legal acts have been entered into by and between Serbia and Kazakhstan and there is a plan to sign a few more inter-government agreements. The most important are as follows:
Free Trade Agreement, Agreement on Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments,Agreement on Cooperation in Fight against Crime, Visa Waiver Agreement.
