Ambassador Jovanović met with the President of the Assembly, Xhaferi

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Northern Macedonia, Nevena Jovanović, met today with the President of the Assembly, Talat Xhaferi, with whom she discussed the further development of our bilateral relations and the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation.

Ambassador Jovanović and the President of the Assembly, Xhaferi, agreed that there is an intensive political dialogue between the two countries at the high and highest level, and expressed hope that the next, third joint session of the two governments, will be held as soon as possible.

Jovanović emphasized that the Republic of Serbia attaches special importance to relations with the Republic of Northern Macedonia as one of the closest neighbors and expressed readiness to work on further strengthening and improving cooperation between the two countries in all areas.

She also expressed unequivocal support for the European integration of Northern Macedonia and stated that the postponement of the start of negotiations with the Republic of Northern Macedonia is not a positive signal.

Ambassador Jovanović stated that the Republic of Serbia is strongly determined to contribute to long-term stability in the region, starting from the position that all open issues must be resolved peacefully and through dialogue.

The President of the Assembly, Xhaferi, expressed satisfaction with the developed parliamentary cooperation and at the same time thanked the Republic of Serbia for the donation of vaccines and for close cooperation during the humanitarian crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The interlocutors agreed that there is room for stronger economic integration, especially through the joint "mini Schengen" initiative.
