Berlin: Ambassador Janković with the General Manager of the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce
Having in mind that significant investors in the Serbian economy come from Lower Saxony, including one of the largest companies, Continental from Hanover, Ambassador Janković suggested intensifying contacts and cooperation between the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
While presenting the results of the current economic cooperation between Serbia and Germany, Ambassador Janković underlined that over 400 German companies operated in Serbia and employed over 75,000 people, and that there were more and more German investment companies opening their own research and development centres, in addition to manufacturing sites. She emphasised that Serbia is focusing on the information technology sector and that an agreement had just been signed with the World Economic Forum on the establishment of the International Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Serbia.
She pointed out that the dual education model, the implementation of which had started in Serbia in recent years, was becoming more and more successful primarily owing to German companies, and that thanks to that model the youth unemployment rate had significantly decreased. She suggested that the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce together with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce organise a presentation on the Serbian economic potential, with the possibility of direct contacts for businesspeople. Ambassador Janković extended an invitation to the General Manager of the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce Maike Bielfeldt to visit Serbia, leading the business delegation.
Maike Bielfeldt thanked for the invitation and said that the visit could be planned for next year. She pointed out that it would be very interesting for the representatives of business circles in Lower Saxony and Hanover to visit Serbia and to participate in a joint presentation of the economic cooperation potential. She extended an invitation to Ambassador Janković to address the businesspeople in Lower Saxony in the organisation of the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and to present to them in more detail the advantages of investing in the Serbian economy.
Maike Bielfeldt also expressed hope that companies from Serbia would participate in the prestigious World Fair of Industrial Technologies in Hanover, which will take place on May 31 and June 1 this year.
