Bern: Concert and exhibition of artworks by students of the Serbian supplementary school in Switzerland
The students and guests were greeted by Ambassador Goran Bradić and Archpriest – Stavrophor Stanko Marković, Parson of the Serbian Orthodox Municipality of Bern.
Consul Predrag Mandić had prepared diplomas and letters of appreciation, which were awarded to everyone who had sent their work or performed at the event.
The main organisers of the exhibition were Jelena Mitrović, teacher, and Ađena Marković, religious teacher from the canton of Bern. The programme of the event was designed by both students and teachers Tijana Krajina and Snežana Šaronjić, whose students took an active part in poetry recitations and solo recitals on trumpet, violin, pipe, guitar and saxophone. Participants in the event included over 50 children of various ages. Their creations and performances were witnessed by about a hundred parents and friends.
This event was supported by the folklore group KUD “Karađorđe” from Bern, whose youngest members were giving the guests the traditional welcome at the entrance to the Embassy, offering them bread and salt.
The Embassy of Serbia in Bern received almost two hundred visual artworks by children on the following subjects: “New Year holidays is my homeland”, “Christmas morning in my home” and “Christmas Eve with Grandma and Grandpa”.
After the performances, the children had the opportunity to look for presents among the straws, per an old Serbian custom.
