The Consul General of Serbia in Chicago, Damjan Jović, met with the Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, and thanked her for declaring Vidovdan an official holiday of that city by decree.

Jović spoke with Lightfoot during a reception organized by the mayor for a number of diplomatic representatives living and working in Chicago.

The Consul General handed Mayor Lightfoot a letter from the Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojičić, in which he expressed his gratitude to her for showing respect to the Serbian people, by declaring Vidovdan a holiday celebrated in Chicago, and invited her to be the first mayor of Chicago to visit the Serbian capital, adding that Lightfoot took this call very seriously.

"Mayor Lightfoot is extremely interested, she thanked for the letter and expressed her intention to personally lead delegations in the coming period that would strengthen international ties with twin cities, which also include Belgrade", Jović said.
