Đurić: Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are victims of repression and violence
In a statement for Tanjug in New York, he said that the Serbian team led by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, used the opportunity at the UN to acquaint the entire international community with the latest developments and that today it now knows that Serbs are victims and that Pristina initiated some moves that can lead to escalation.
Ambassador Đurić states that he personally tried to point out in talks with representatives of the American administration the motives of the Albanian leaders in Pristina, who obviously show expressed nervousness, not only because of the local elections on 17 October, but also due to the fact that there was a kind of geopolitical turnaround in the region.
According to him, Serbia, which was once the "favorite bad guy of Western countries", by building better and normal relations throughout the previous years, now has an open door to express its opinion to those who are traditional partners and allies of the authorities in Pristina and on whose unconditional support it now counts.
"Today, some of them know that Pristina is the side that behaves irrationally, and they know even more that in the past few years, primarily thanks to the policy of President Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia has managed to strengthen its foreign policy positions, economic and defense potentials and to profile itself as a country that opens up the Balkans, that removes obstacles, barriers and borders, as a pillar of development and progress of the entire region", pointed out Đurić.
Đurić said that he was satisfied with the talks led by Prime Minister Brnabić with the representatives of the United States and that he expected a constructive contribution from the international community in the coming days.
He told the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija that law and justice are on our side and that he is with them with all his heart.
"Every day we will fight for them, day and night, and we will try to get the truth about them to every representative of the international community in the United Nations, so that everyone, from Mauritania, Senegal, Kenya to Washington, Moscow and Beijing may hear Serbia's position and support it if they can. This time we will not be alone, this is not 1999. Serbia is not alone, Serbia is working in the best possible direction", pointed out Ambassador Đurić.
