Greece: There are no Serbian citizens endangered by fires
They also state that they are in constant contact with our citizens living in Greece, with honorary consuls on the islands, tourists, guides and representatives of agencies that bring Serbian tourists to Greece.
According to the latest information, there are currently 78 active fires, the extinguishing of which is hampered by the etesian winds, which blow at this time of year.
For now, the fires are being kept under control, there are no human casualties, but there is great material and environmental damage, according to the Embassy.
The Greek capital is covered with smoke and ashes, because the fire in the northern suburb of Athens, near the place Tatoi, has not been extinguished yet.
The fire is under control, but the part of the highway used for reaching Athens from the north is closed for traffic.
About 80 houses were burned, and the inhabitants of Greece, whose houses were damaged in the fire, were accommodated in hotels at the expense of the state.
The Embassy states that there are still active fires in the Peloponnese, which are under control, that they burned in the vicinity of Patras, the largest city in this part of Greece, while the bridge near Patras connecting the Peloponnese with the western part of Greece was closed to traffic.
They add that the part along the Evzoni border crossing, which was closed yesterday afternoon, was also affected by the fire, but that the situation has normalized and the crossing is operating in normal mode.
The fires on the Greek islands are also under control, and they cover parts where there are mostly no tourists.
