Ljubljana: War magazines of Serbian soldiers at an exhibition in Slovenia
The exhibition was announced by posters written in Cyrillic, which are actually the front pages of the "Antena" newspaper, and the first advisor of the Serbian Embassy in Slovenia, Aleksandar Gatalica, says that the goal is to draw the attention of citizens of Ljubljana to Serbian tradition and culture.
The exhibition, which will be set up on 3 November at the Parish Home in Ljubljana, is being organized by the Mihailo Pupin Cultural Society, the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality and the Serbian Embassy in Slovenia.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the ten magazines that were published in single-digit circulations, and were written by Serbian soldiers and schoolchildren in the war years at the beginning of the 20th century.
"Magazines were written by hand in Cyrillic and each had a headline drawn. Some of them came out in only one copy and were read from hand to hand", said Gatalica.
All these magazines, he added, are kept in the National Library of Serbia, they have been digitized and, thanks to this unique opportunity, they will be available to interested citizens of Ljubljana.
Gatalica explained that there is a law in Slovenia according to which nothing can be advertised in public if it is not in the mother tongue, but the posters in Cyrillic have received all the necessary permits.
