Memorandum of Understanding signed with Ohio
Ambassador to the United States Marko Djuric signed the Memorandum on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and on the U.S. side it was signed by Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Randy Gardner and Ohio's Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria.
According to the Serbian Embassy in Washington, the signing ceremony was attended by Major General John Harris, Commander of the Ohio National Guard, with which Serbia has maintained an active military cooperation for as many as 15 years.
“Today we undertake to open the door to our nations for cooperation in the field of education as one of the key segments of every society. Serbia basing its growth and future on investing in education and technology is the key vision of President Vucic. Joint work with the United States and the federal state of Ohio on strengthening our bilateral relations in the field of education, science and culture is therefore of special importance for the future of Serbia. In that way, we are creating a new, invaluable part of the mosaic of overall relations with the United States, of which Ohio is a central part", Ambassador Djuric said on that occasion.
He assessed that cooperation in education and academic exchange also contributed to economic development.
"Our peoples are getting closer, our institutions are cooperating, and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia Branko Ruzic conveyed to me his enthusiasm regarding this cooperation. We continue to build on the solid foundations of our partnership established through multifaceted cooperation programs with the Ohio National Guard", Djuric concluded.
