Seoul: Visit to Sangshin Women's University
Possibilities for improving educational and inter-university cooperation between Serbia and Korea were discussed at the meeting.
University President Yang Bo Kyung said that SWU was a modern university with 13 colleges attended by about 11,000 students. She said she paid special attention to international cooperation, as evidenced by the University’s 261 foreign students from 52 countries. She noted that the University sends more than 500 of its students to partner universities abroad for training every year.
Ambassador Grbić thanked President Yang for the information and pointed out that there was a great potential for improving cooperation in the field of education with the Republic of Korea, especially cooperation between the universities of the two countries. He presented the system of higher education in Serbia and the possibilities for awarding scholarships to foreign students, emphasising that we would like to see more Korean students in Serbia and more Serbian students in Korea.
During the meeting, an interest was shown in establishing concrete cooperation between the Sangshin Women's University and Serbian universities, including the exchange of scholarships and the establishment of institutes for Korean studies at Serbian universities (such as the Sejong Institute).
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Grbić was invited by President Yang to give a special lecture on Serbia to the students of the University, which he gladly accepted to do.
