Skopje: Serbian Language Day celebrated
The conference was organized by the Institute for the Macedonian Language Krste Misirkov from Skopje. The participants included the director of the Institute for the Serbian Language of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Sofija Miloradović, who signed a Memorandum with the director of the Institute for the Macedonian Language Krste Misirkov, Elena Jovanova-Grujovska, on cooperation between the two institutes.
Ambassador Jovanović said that preserving a native language is an integral part of preserving national identity and pointed out the importance of education in Serbian language for representatives of the Serbian community in North Macedonia, reminding that the Serbian language in Macedonia is studied in primary and secondary schools as well as universities.
Ambassador Jovanović pointed out that today's signing of the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Institute for the Macedonian Language Krste Misirkov and the Institute for the Serbian Language of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts will further deepens the relations between our two countries.
Pupils from Strašo Pindžur Elementary School from the village of Josifovo, who study Serbian language within the subject Language and Culture of Serbs recited famous verses by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj and Ljubivoje Ršumović.
