Sofia: Ambassador Jović at the Conference on domestic violence, prevention and human rights mechanisms.

On March 8th, coinciding with the international Women's Day, the international conference dealing with domestic and community violence and the prevention and protection mechanisms was organized and held in Sofia by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and several women's organizations from Bulgaria.

The conference discussed current trends in society, especially those with a negative connotation and in connection with the dramatic increase in violence against women. In this regard, it was pointed out the need for further joint work on finding ways to ensure not only adequate protection of women, but also the creation of a social climate that would contribute to reducing all deviant phenomena related to violence against women.

The organizers of the event welcomed the presence of Ambassador Jović, as the representative of Serbia - which is among the first signatories of the Istanbul Convention. The conference was also attended by the highest representatives of the police and judiciary of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as the Ombudsman and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria.
