Tokyo: Presentation of the art exchange project between Serbia and Japan was held at the Embassy
The exhibition will be carried out as part of the programmes Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture and Danube Dialogues and in cooperation with EU-Japan Fest, a non-profit organisation that has been working on cultural exchange between Japan and the cities that hold this prestigious title for more than 30 years.
In welcoming the attendees, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Japan Aleksandra Kovač expressed her satisfaction that the exhibition of Japanese artists in Novi Sad would be held in the year in which 140 years of friendship between Serbia and Japan was celebrated. She stated that the concept of the entire Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture project was based on bridges, and that getting to know different cultures through universal artistic expressions was the best way to build and preserve bridges between geographically distant countries and peoples. She thanked the EU-Japan Fest for their support and the fact that, through the Kizuna scholarship, they enabled the author of the exhibition and the curator to come to Japan.
Programme Manager of the EU-Japan Fest Saori Hakoda presented the programme of this NPO and emphasised the exceptionally productive cooperation with the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture team.
Author of the exhibition Vesna Latinović and curators Ksenija Marinković and Tomohiro Okada, presented the concept and content of the exhibition in detail, stressing that it was one of the most significant and largest exhibitions of works of art by contemporary Japanese artists in Serbia.
The presentation was attended by gallerists, art historians and artists whose works were part of the exhibition.
