Yerevan: Artistic event in honour of Honorary Consul of Serbia in Yerevan Babken Simonyan
Honorary Consul Simonyan has been engaged in poetry, translation, essay writing and journalism for almost five decades, and as an excellent connoisseur of Serbia and the Serbian language, he dedicated the largest part of his extensive artistic and translation work to strengthening the ties between Serbia and Armenia.
Director of the „Yeghishe Charents“ Museum Vahagn Sargsyan, correspondent member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Aelita Dolukhanyan, Serbian Ambassador to Armenia Tatjana Panajotović Cvetković and director of the „Smederevo's poet autumn“ Festival Miljan Guberinić spoke about his work and creativity.
Honorary Consul Simonyan presented elements from his rich biography and bibliography and the speakers gave a very positive opinion of his literary and translation work, as well as his dedication and contribution to the strengthening of cultural ties between Serbia and Armenia.
In her address, Ambassador Panajotović Cvetković thanked Honorary Consul Simonyan for his work and the affirmation of Serbian culture and heritage in Armenia, highlighting his dedication and talent for creating literary bridges.
She particularly emphasised the importance of his involvement in the rapprochement of Serbia and Armenia, for which he was awarded the Gold Medal, a high state award of the Republic of Serbia, as well as numerous prestigious literary awards.
