Fourth Bilateral Political Consultations between Serbia and Italy Held
In a friendly and substantive exchange, the two sides reviewed in detail current issues in bilateral relations and opportunities for their further enhancement, as well as cooperation within international and regional organizations of which both countries are members. Satisfaction was expressed with the regular and intensive dialogue, as well as with the strategic partnership that continues to develop successfully in all areas of mutual interest.
Special attention was devoted to the further strengthening of economic and investment cooperation. State Secretary Jović welcomed the announced participation of the Republic of Italy in the Specialized International Exhibition Expo 2027, to be hosted in Belgrade.
Gratitude was conveyed for Italy’s continuous support to Serbia’s European integration process.
State Secretary Damjan Jović informed the Italian delegation about the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the difficult circumstances faced by the Serbian community, who are subject to systematic pressures and the denial of basic human rights as a result of Pristina’s unilateral actions. On this occasion, he also expressed appreciation for the contribution of the Republic of Italy and its KFOR contingent to maintaining security in the Province and for the protection provided to the Serbian population, as well as to the Visoki Dečani Monastery.
The consultations also included an exchange of views on key international and regional issues, with particular focus on developments in the Western Balkans and the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
