Jovanović participates in Ministerial Meeting of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nevena Jovanović participated today in the ministerial meeting of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), held as part of the 11th EUSAIR Forum taking place this week in Skopje.

During the meeting, the participating states and representatives of the European Commission reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and connectivity within this macro-regional initiative, with the aim of preserving stability, prosperity, and sustainable development in the region, as well as enhancing capacities for a joint response to current challenges.

The participants particularly underscored the importance of macro-regional cooperation as a significant mechanism for advancing political dialogue, economic connectivity, and the European integration of the region.

In her address, State Secretary Jovanović emphasized the importance of further strengthening regional connectivity and cooperation within the framework of the second pillar of EUSAIR, which Serbia coordinates jointly with Italy, expressing the expectation that the forthcoming Italian presidency would further intensify activities and cooperation within the Strategy.

At the conclusion of the ministerial meeting, the Skopje Declaration was adopted by consensus, extending, inter alia, the mandate of the current Secretary General of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative Secretariat, Ambassador Giovanni Castellaneta.
