The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, took part in the panel entitled “Connectivity between the Northern Adriatic and the Balkans,” organized by the Trieste Summit Association. On that occasion, Jovanović emphasized that enhancing infrastructure connectivity between the Balkans and the Northern Adriatic region is of strategic importance for economic development, stability, and the further European integration of the region.

She underscored that Serbia, owing to its geographic position at the crossroads of key European transport corridors, plays an important role in strengthening regional connectivity, as well as in the development of modern transport and logistics networks linking the Balkans with Central Europe and Adriatic ports.

Jovanović recalled that Serbia is currently the largest and most dynamic economy in the Western Balkans, generating approximately half of the region’s total GDP and consistently leading in attracting foreign direct investment, thereby serving as one of the key drivers of economic growth.

She also highlighted the significance of major infrastructure projects being implemented in Serbia, as well as the long-term development vision “Serbia 2030,” recently presented by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, which envisages further acceleration of economic growth, infrastructure development, and the strengthening of the country’s innovation potential.

She concluded by reaffirming that Serbia remains a strong and reliable partner in initiatives aimed at enhancing regional cooperation, deepening economic integration, and improving overall connectivity in the region.
