The State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Damjan Jović, met with the Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence of Ireland, Thomas Byrne, on the margins of this year’s Delphi Economic Forum.

The two officials underscored their shared commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relations between Serbia and Ireland, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation and fostering connections between the two countries’ companies and business communities.

In this regard, State Secretary Jović expressed particular satisfaction with the upcoming opening of the Embassy of Ireland in Belgrade, emphasizing that Ireland’s direct presence in Serbia will mark a new chapter in Serbian-Irish relations and will undoubtedly serve as a significant impetus for their continued development.

Jović and Byrne also exchanged views on current international issues and Serbia’s EU accession process.

In this context, Minister Byrne reaffirmed Ireland’s consistent support for Serbia’s European path, noting that the issue of EU enlargement will feature prominently on the agenda during Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in July 2026.
