Kozarev meets with the Ambassador of Syria

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dušan Kozarev met today with the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mohammed Haj Ibrahim. The two officials reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Both sides noted the historic friendship, mutual understanding, and respect that bind the Serbian and Syrian peoples, agreeing that these solid foundations should serve as a basis for strengthening contacts and revitalizing cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the mutual readiness to intensify economic and investment cooperation, while also highlighting the potential for collaboration in the fields of agriculture and infrastructure, which opens avenues for concrete visits by Serbian business representatives and delegations to Syria.

Secretary General Kozarev underlined Serbia’s interest in strengthening cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and education, extending an invitation to Syrian students to participate in the “World in Serbia” scholarship program.

Kozarev reiterated that Serbia fully respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, emphasizing that Serbia equally values Syria’s principled position regarding Kosovo and Metohija.

Ambassador Ibrahim congratulated the Serb List on its victory in the local elections in Kosovo and Metohija and particularly welcomed today’s release of Serbian-Israeli citizen Alon Ohel, who had been held captive by Hamas for more than two years.
