Minister Dacic meets with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the margins of the 43rd ASEAN Summit
At the beginning of the conversation, Minister Dacic congratulated his counterpart on the recent assumption of duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, and expressed his readiness for working together in the period ahead aiming to strengthen both the Serbian-Cambodian relations and the cooperation between Serbia and ASEAN Member States.
The interlocutors noted that the bilateral political relations between Serbia and Cambodia were traditionally friendly and on an upward trajectory. They expressed the expectation that the political dialogue would further intensify in the coming period, through exchanges of bilateral visits at the high and top levels, and agreed that the enhancement of economic cooperation through direct cooperation between economic institutions and chambers of commerce of the two countries was of great importance, as was the promotion of cooperation in the field of agriculture and information and communication technologies.
The two foreign ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the diplomatic academies which will take diplomatic cooperation to a higher level through cooperation in the training of diplomatic staff of the two countries.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to Cambodia for its principled and consistent support to the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, with the hope that the same would continue in the future.
The ministers noted that they were pleased with the successful cooperation at the multilateral level and expressed interest in continuing mutual support in international organizations and institutions.
Gratitude was expressed to Cambodia for supporting the efforts Serbia had made to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
