Minister Dacic meets with the Foreign Minister of the Philippines on the margins of the 43rd ASEAN Summit

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Luis Manalo on the margins of the 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta.

The two foreign ministers discussed the promotion of relations between the two countries, to be encouraged further by yesterday's signing of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia. Bilaterally, the talks focused on the strengthening of high and top level political dialogue by exchanging visits and signing a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral political consultations - which is being prepared, as well as on the further development of economic, cultural, educational and scientific and technical cooperation.

The collocutors discussed the cooperation mechanisms and modalities provided by ASEAN, both through the enhancement of political, trade and economic ties with its member states and within broader multilateral frameworks.

Serbian Foreign Minister Dacic thanked the Republic of the Philippines for its principled and consistent support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, also reflected in its support lent to Serbia in international organizations, and expressed the hope that the same would continue in the future.
