The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met today with the Ambassador of Mexico, Carlos Felix.
Selaković stated that the two countries nurture decades of friendly relations, which are adorned with a high degree of mutual respect and esteem on issues of key national interests.
The minister stated that the friendship between Serbia and Mexico is evidenced by the fact that this year we are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, especially expressing satisfaction that the jubilee was accompanied by the organization of appropriate events in both countries.
As Selaković pointed out, Serbia is committed to strengthening the political dialogue with Mexico, the realization of visits at the highest and high level, reminding in that context of his recent visit to Mexico and very good talks with the highest officials of that country. On this occasion, Selaković expressed hope that in the coming period, the minister of foreign affairs of Mexico will pay an official visit to Serbia.
The head of Serbian diplomacy underlined that we highly appreciate and are deeply grateful to Mexico for its consistent position on the issue of respect for international law and non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, as well as for the support it provides us within international organizations.
Speaking about economic cooperation, Selaković pointed out that it is necessary to improve economic relations and increase foreign trade, and sent an invitation to investors from Mexico to invest in Serbia.
The interlocutors discussed the activities of the two countries on the harmonization of legal regulations in order to improve economic cooperation, that is, the conclusion of the Agreement on encouragement and protection of investments and the Agreement on avoidance of double taxation.
