Mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and Cyprus

08. May 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met in Nicosia with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Theodoros Konstantinides.

In a cordial atmosphere, the two sides reaffirmed the fraternal relations between their peoples and states, particularly strengthened by shared culture, history, and geopolitical challenges.

They emphasized the unwavering positions of both countries regarding mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as their joint advocacy and protection of interests in international organizations.

Kozarev expressed gratitude to Cyprus for its clear, unconditional, and vigorous support of Serbia in the EU integration process.

The interlocutors agreed that there is room for even closer ties, expressing confidence that Serbia and Cyprus will expand trade, cultural, and other forms of exchange, and further strengthen mutual investments by 2027, when the international Expo exhibition will be held in Serbia—an event in which Cyprus has already confirmed its participation.

They discussed modalities for strengthening ties between the two ministries, with an emphasis on the opening of joint diplomatic-consular representations (so-called co-locations), and highlighted the need for intensified cooperation in training and personnel exchange.
