Political consultations held between Serbia and the Czech Republic
In an open and cordial conversation, the interlocutors discussed issues in the field of bilateral political and economic cooperation, the process of European integration of the Republic of Serbia, multilateral cooperation, as well as other areas of common interest.
It was stated that close and friendly relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic have a long historical tradition. Both sides expressed satisfaction that an intensive and continuous political dialogue is taking place between the two countries at the highest and high level, and that a special contribution is the extremely successful official visit of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to the Czech Republic, realized in May this year.
They also exchanged views on the current economic situation in the context of recovery from the consequences of the Kovid-19 pandemic and the potential for strengthening bilateral economic and investment activities. The Czech side emphasized that Czech businessmen recognized the potential for cooperation in the field of economy, and pointed to the growing interest of Czech companies to continue investing in Serbia.
The interlocutors agreed with the assessment that the bilateral relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic are extremely good, noting that there is always room for their improvement through stronger connections in the fields of economy, culture, education and tourism.
In the conversation with the representatives of the Sector for the European Union, we expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the Czech Republic to the process of accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, both through efforts within the EU and within the Visegrad Group.
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Aleš Hmelarž said that the Czech Republic will continue to support the process of European integration of Serbia, as a key country in the region, and confirmed that the EU enlargement process will be one of the priorities of the Czech Presidency in the second half of 2022.
