Secretary General Kozarev delivers lecture to students from the American University Center in Brussels
In the introductory part of his lecture, Kozarev acquainted the students with key facts regarding Serbia’s geographical and geostrategic position, placing particular emphasis on the historical context and the chronological sequence of events in the region.
Continuing his address, the Secretary General highlighted Serbia’s commitment to pursuing a balanced foreign policy and presented its foreign policy priorities, which include the preservation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, full membership in the European Union, and the advancement of bilateral cooperation—not only with major powers such as the United States, Russia, and China, but also with countries across the world.
Special attention was devoted to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, from the unilateral declaration of independence of the so-called “Kosovo,” described as an act contrary to international law, to the attacks on the Serbian population and cultural heritage, and the ongoing challenges faced by Serbs on a daily basis.
Kozarev also presented Serbia’s economic progress, as reflected in numerous infrastructure projects and successful reforms across various sectors, as well as the country’s commitment to developing good neighborly relations and maintaining regional stability. He additionally underscored that Serbia will host the prestigious international Expo event in 2027.
Following the lecture, the Secretary General responded to numerous questions from students regarding Serbia’s European integration process, reform agenda, relations with major global powers, and military-security cooperation.
Students from the American University Center in Brussels have been visiting Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of their study program for the past 22 years.
