Selakovic: Great potentials for the development of cooperation with Bahrain

08. Dec 2021.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic had a meeting today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ahmed Al-Saati.

Minister Selakovic expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries and the fact that in the previous period, owing to the visit by President Aleksandar Vucic to Bahrain, but also frequent meetings of officials on the sidelines of multilateral events, a quality and substantial political dialogue had been established.

In this context, Selakovic pointed out that the regular exchange of high-level visits was of great importance for the further enhancement of comprehensive bilateral relations, especially in the economic field where great untapped potentials existed.

According to the Minister, there were significant opportunities for promoting economic cooperation between the two countries, because the current trade in goods was still modest, given the potentials of the two economies.

Selakovic informed his interlocutor about the economic results that Serbia achieved in the past seven years, emphasizing that our country was also the absolute regional leader in attracting foreign investments.

Minister Selakovic expressed special gratitude for the fact that the Kingdom of Bahrain sent more than 67.5 tons of medical equipment to Serbia in January 2021, including 20 ventilators, which was the largest single donation our country received since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic.

Selakovic added that today, following this and similar examples, Serbia endeavoured to show solidarity and to help friendly countries within the scope of its capacities, including the countries of the Middle East.

Minister Selakovic thanked Ambassador Al-Saati, who is covering Serbia on a non-residential basis from Moscow, for heading the Bahraini delegation at the commemorative event held in October this year to mark the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
