Seoul: Delegation of Serbia takes part in the high-level political meeting of the Proliferation Security Initiative
The Delegation of the Republic of Serbia was led by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy Dijana Ivančić. One of the members of the Delegation was Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Korea Nemanja Grbić.
The meeting was held in the context of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of this Initiative, in which the Republic of Serbia takes part, and 68 delegations of countries which belong to this Initiative participated in the meeting. The meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences relating to the topic of non-proliferation, as well as to define priorities for the next period and determine the political direction of the Initiative for the next five years.
In her speech, Assistant Minister Ivančić stressed that the Republic of Serbia was committed to the participation in the Initiative, and that it was supporting the implementation of all international acts which regulate this area, including NPT, BTWC, CWC, ATT etc. She also emphasised the progress achieved in the improvement of national legislation in the field in question, highlighting major legal acts that had been adopted in this regard.
At the end of the meeting, the Joint Statement was adopted. It had been made by the co-chairs, and approved by all the participants as a result of the meeting.
