Strong friendship and historical closeness between the Serbian and Greek peoples
Minister Selaković said that the relations of the strategic partnership between Serbia and Greece are based on firm friendship, the historically proven closeness and solidarity between the two peoples, and strong cultural and civilizational ties.
The interlocutors expressed their desire to continue deepening relations, through regular meetings at the high and top levels and various forms of bilateral consultations, but also trilateral formats involving the Republic of Cyprus and North Macedonia.
Selaković added that he expected that, along with the growth in the volume of trade between the two countries, the interest of Greek companies in investing in Serbia will also increase.
When it comes to Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Selaković informed his collocutor in detail about the situation in our southern province and the efforts of Pristina to destabilize the situation on the ground through a systematic campaign of intimidation of the Serbian people.
Belgrade, unlike Pristina, as emphasized by the head of Serbian diplomacy, is committed to dialogue and solving all open issues by political and peaceful means, and that is why it is very important for us that Greece continues to consistently support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and our policy of fighting for preservation of peace and stability in the region.
Such a policy is reflected, among other things, through the "Open Balkan" initiative, as a process aimed at economic development and better political relations in the region, Selaković said.
The ministers also discussed the energy situation, regional and geopolitical issues, and Selaković pointed out that it was important to make efforts to avoid any escalation in the Eastern Mediterranean area, and that it is necessary to insist on respecting international law and UN Security Council resolutions, on which peace in that region rests.
According to the Minister, Serbia consistently supports the territorial integrity of Greece on land and sea. Also, Selaković expressed his gratitude to Minister Dendias and Greece for reaffirming support concerning the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
