First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić, received earlier today in a farewell visit the Ambassador of Japan, Takahiko Katsumata, who is about to end his tenure in the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Dačić expressed gratitude to Ambassador Katsumata for his personal contribution to the intensification of political dialogue and cooperation between Serbia and Japan, bearing in mind that during his term of office significant contacts of high-ranking officials of the two countries have been established and total cooperation raised to an even higher level.

At the meeting, the parties established that the relations between the two countries, which marked 140 years of friendship last year, were substantial, of good quality and on a constant rise; also, mutual readiness for further strengthening of dialogue, exchange of visits at all levels and establishing intensive ties between the two countries through advancement of cooperation in numerous areas, and particularly at the economic level, was confirmed.

Wishing Ambassador Katsumata much success in his professional and personal life, Serbian Foreign Minister told Katsumata that he could always count on the friendship of Serbia and Serbian people.

Ambassador Katsumata assessed that the fact that Serbs and the Japanese have always been together and supported each other in good and tough times alike lent a special quality to Serbia-Japan relations. He said he has beautiful memories from his tenure in Serbia and thanked the Serbian state leadership and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state institutions of the Republic of Serbia for their exceptional understanding and cooperation.
