Đurić confers with Iwaya: Japan is a significant partner of Serbia
Expressing particular satisfaction that, after 16 years, the visit of the Serbian Foreign Minister to Tokyo is being realized, Minister Đurić voiced his confidence that forthcoming high-level visits to Japan will further consolidate our historic ties and contribute to deepening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
According to Minister Đurić, Japan is one of Serbia’s strategic economic partners, as evidenced by the increasingly dynamic trade exchange and the growing inflow of Japanese investments into Serbia.
“I am pleased that there is mutual interest in concluding an Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investments, whose implementation will jointly send a strong signal about the strength of our economic ties, as well as the high level of our overall relations,” Đurić stated.
With regard to Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Đurić informed his interlocutor about the current situation in Serbia’s southern province, underlining the importance of upholding the principles of international law and protecting the fundamental human rights of the Serbian population, which have been gravely endangered by Pristina’s recent escalatory actions.
In addition to the intensive economic cooperation, Minister Đurić emphasized that our partnership is also reflected in other areas, highlighting in particular the solidarity and assistance that Japan has generously extended to Serbia in challenging times, for which the Serbian people are deeply grateful.
Minister Đurić conveyed Serbia’s appreciation to Japan for officially confirming its participation in the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, expressing hope that our capital will prove to be an equally successful and gracious host as Osaka, where the World Expo is currently being held.
