Đurić: Serbia plays a key role in stabilizing the region

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, stated today that the Antalya Diplomacy Forum served as an opportunity to convey the message that Serbia is a country playing a key role in stabilizing the situation in the region, in de-escalating tensions, and in addressing pressing issues.

“It was very important for us to send the message that Serbia is strong and stable—especially in light of recent developments—and that it is open for business,” Đurić told reporters in Antalya.

He emphasized that Serbia's goal is not to win debates, but to solve problems by taking a constructive approach to all pressing issues in the region.

“This was important to highlight because there are always those who seek to portray Serbia or the Serbian leadership as a destabilizing force in the region,” Đurić noted.

He added that it is in Serbia’s vital interest to maintain excellent relations with all countries in the region, and that additional efforts will be invested in the coming months to make regional relations and the overall environment even more friendly—regardless of differing views on events from the recent or more distant past.

Đurić underlined that participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum also provided the opportunity for a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines, further reaffirming Serbia’s commitment to political cooperation across many parts of the world.

Over the past two days, Minister Đurić met with foreign ministers from the United Kingdom, Germany, several European officials, regional counterparts, as well as with ministers from various African countries and the Foreign Minister of Venezuela.

“This clearly shows that Serbia continues to nurture its traditional partnerships, and it confirms that our foreign policy, in terms of global outreach, is indeed highly balanced,” Minister Đurić concluded.
