Đurić: Seven decades of friendship and indissoluble ties between the People's Republic of China and Serbia
Addressing guests at the New Year's reception organized by the Chinese Embassy in Serbia to mark this significant bilateral anniversary, Đurić conveyed that these ties are rooted in shared values and responses to contemporary challenges.
Since establishing cooperation in January 1955, the two countries and peoples have successfully nurtured friendship, mutual trust, and understanding, according to Đurić.
He expressed gratitude to his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and Chinese friends for the warm welcome during his recent official visit to China, highlighting that the discussions reaffirmed the friendship between the two states and provided further encouragement for advancing their exceptional bilateral relations.
"During my stay in China, I once again had the opportunity to witness the results of dynamic economic development, growth, and social stability, achieved through the implementation of policies derived from the thoughts of President Xi Jinping. These thoughts guide the Chinese people and the Chinese dream. I am confident that the CPC and its General Secretary will continue to achieve impressive results," stated the head of Serbian diplomacy.
Minister Đurić emphasized that Serbia is proud of its outstanding relations with China, which are conducted in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership and ironclad friendship, recalling that these relations were elevated to the highest level in history during last year's historic visit by President Xi to Belgrade.
"I emphasize that the relations between our two friendly nations, as well as the numerous successes resulting from our cooperation, were made possible thanks to the tireless personal dedication of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. Their close communication and personal friendship represent the cornerstone of our partnership," Đurić stated.
He explained that on the international stage, the two nations share values such as commitment to peace, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and advocacy for the political independence of states.
According to him, Serbia is particularly grateful to the People's Republic of China for its principled position on our territorial integrity and our stance regarding Kosovo and Metohija.
"The support of friendly China, as well as our coordinated actions in international organizations, are of vital importance to Serbia. At the same time, the People's Republic of China can count on Serbia's principled and active support for the One-China policy," Đurić said.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also touched on Sino-Serbian economic cooperation, reminding that its fruits include, among others, the "Mihajlo Pupin" bridge, numerous road and railway infrastructure projects, and achievements in the fields of mining and energy.
"Once again, I highlight the successes achieved in cooperation between our two countries, in all areas. I am confident that the firm friendship and bonds between the Serbian and Chinese people will contribute to making the world a better place for all," Đurić concluded, thanking the Chinese Ambassador Li Ming for his valuable work in further strengthening the ironclad friendship between our two nations.
