MFA Serbia: The capacity of the current Government of the Sudan to make decisions of vital importance for international relations is questionable
The current political situation in the Sudan, characterized by uncertainty and the lack of legitimacy of the current government, calls into question the validity of such internationally relevant decisions. The capacity of the current Government of the Sudan to make decisions of vital importance for international relations is questionable, especially in the context of issues concerning the sovereignty and territorial integrity of United Nations member states.
The Republic of Serbia recalls the previous resolutions of the UN Security Council, as well as the valid ways of resolving the status of Kosovo and Metohija, which foresee dialogue and not unilateral action. This decision not only contradicts the norms of international law, but also undermines efforts for a peaceful settlement of relations in the Balkans.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia calls on the international community to respect the UN Charter and the principles of international law, and to refrain from recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, as well as to support dialogue as the only sustainable solution. At the same time, we call on the Government of the Sudan to reconsider its decision, bearing in mind the complexity and delicacy of the situation.
With its actions, Serbia continues to advocate for the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the strengthening of peace and stability in the region.
