First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop as part of his official visit to Ankara today.

The interlocutors underlined their readiness for the further enhancement of overall bilateral cooperation, as well as for the continuation of political dialogue at the high and top levels.

Dacic emphasized Serbia's interest in further promoting the comprehensive economic cooperation between our countries, especially with regard to increasing the presence of Turkish investments and companies in Serbia.

"The common assessment is that the bilateral relations have been making great progress all these years. We have achieved outstanding results in political and economic relations. Foreign trade exchange exceeded 2 billion euros for the first time last year, which is a historic high", Dacic said.

Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Şentop assessed the trend of development of relations as very dynamic, especially regarding the exchange of visits at the high and highest levels and the open communication between the officials of the two countries.

"In our parliament, the Friendship Group with Serbia has 304 members, namely more than half of the total number of members, which is a sign of how much attention we pay to Serbia", Şentop said.

Şentop took the opportunity to thank Dacic once again for his commitment and contribution to the promotion of relations between the two countries in all his previous positions, reiterating that he was pleased that joint projects, primarily infrastructure investments, were being successfully implemented.
