07. Nov 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić today welcomed a delegation of the American-Serbian Business Council, with whose representatives he discussed Serbia's economic potential and capacity to attract foreign direct investment.

Minister Đurić referred to last year's establishment of the American-Serbian Business Council in Washington as a successful realization of a common vision, and expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Council and representatives of companies for the excellent cooperation so far within this format.

The Minister noted that the current economic successes achieved by Serbia, such as the investment rating, the more than doubled GDP in just a few years and macroeconomic stability, were the result of responsible political decisions and thorough reforms implemented in the previous decade. He added that Serbia's comparative advantage, reflected in our wide network of partnerships and friendships with countries across the globe, also made a contribution in this regard.

Among the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in addition to the fulfilment of all political, economic, social and other reforms necessary for our country's full membership of the European Union by 2027, the Minister underlined comprehensive economic growth and development, continuity in attracting foreign investments, maintenance of positive relations in wider region, as well as regular dialogue and joint efforts with partners towards the promotion of cooperation and stability in the Western Balkans.

The head of Serbian diplomacy underlined that the further enhancement of relations with the United States remained one of our key commitments, emphasizing to his interlocutors the significant role of economic, investment, energy, infrastructure and technological cooperation.

Minister Đurić expressed particular satisfaction with the recently concluded Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Energy Sector, which is becoming one of the key pillars of bilateral economic cooperation.

The Minister noted, as something to be proud of, the fact that the United States is among the leading foreign trade partners and Serbia's main export market when it comes to trade in services, especially ICT services, which continuously reached record values.

The delegation of the American-Serbian Business Council consisted, in addition to the leadership, of representatives of renowned American and global companies, including Bechtel, Visa, Citi, Palo Alto Networks, Pfizer, Merck MSD, Archer Daniels Midland, Organon, USBC and more.
