The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a note of protest to the Embassy of Croatia
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes this opportunity to condemn in the strongest terms the ban on entry to Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora Djordje Milicevic into the Jasenovac Memorial Site.
With this act, the Republic of Croatia, a member of the European Union, denied freedom of movement, which is one of the basic rights on which the European community rests.
Such a move is particularly unacceptable because it denies the right of the Republic of Serbia to pay respects to the victims of the terrible Ustasha crimes, among which Serbian victims were the most numerous.
At the same time, such inadequate treatment of a minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia carries an extremely negative message and does not contribute to the further development of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia reiterates on this occasion that the Republic of Serbia remains committed to pursuing a good-neighbourly policy with the Republic of Croatia, based on the principles of mutual respect and adherence to European and anti-fascist values, with the expectation that the Croatian state respects the aforementioned values."
