Starović with the EU delegation and representatives of EU member states on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nemanja Starović, met with the head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Emanuele Giofre, and the representatives of the embassies of the member states of the European Union.

The head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia and representatives of embassies informed the interlocutors from the Ministry about the priorities and expectations of the European Union from the upcoming tenth Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which will be held from 4 to 28 January 2022.

The participants at the meeting agreed that the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is a key instrument of the international nuclear arms control system and that all states participating at the forthcoming Review Conference should make every effort to further strengthen its implementation in all three pillars of the Treaty (non-proliferation, disarmament and peaceful use of nuclear energy).

In addition to the head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, the meeting was also attended by the ambassadors of Austria, Belgium and Portugal, as well as the deputy ambassadors of France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Slovenia and the Netherlands.
