Sydney: Ambassador Stefanović at the Serbian Folkloric Festival
In his address, Ambassador Stefanović expressed his pleasure for the opportunity to personally attend this event for the first time and for the fact that this traditional festival is being held again after a three-year interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He emphasised that the Republic of Serbia supports all activities that contribute to the preservation of the cultural and national identity, as well as that he sees the Serbian community in Australia as an important bond for enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The opening of the festival was also attended by Australian-New Zealand Bishop Siluan, member of the Australian Parliament Dai Le, several members of the Parliament of New South Wales, the mayor of the Sydney municipality of Fairfield, as well as several councilmembers.
The event is the largest of its kind in Australia, and this year’s gathering brought together folklore, and cultural and artistic societies from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and Wollongong.
