Tokyo: Concert and presentation of Serbian wines on occasion of anniversary of 140 years of friendship between Serbia and Japan

To solemnly mark 140 years of friendship between Serbia and Japan, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tokyo organized an exclusive concert of the globally famous pianist Aisa Ijiri, in the main showroom of Steinway & Sons in Tokyo, in cooperation with the Japanese representative office of this company.

Ijiri performed the compositions of the famous Serbian composer Aleksandar Vujić, the young composer and pianist Dušan Dakić, the Japanese composer Mai Fukasawa and those of Franz Liszt.

In her speech, Ambassador Aleksandra Kovač welcomed the role played by Serbian and Japanese artists in strengthening the bilateral relations, bringing closer and adding to a better understanding of the two geographically distant countries and peoples.

The Ambassador pointed out that Aisa Ijiri was a long-time friend of Serbia and thanked the Stanway & Sons company for organizing that event in their premises. The Ambassador stressed that Serbia was also proud of the fact that that company opened their representative office in Belgrade, thus allowing our two countries to deepen the mutual cooperation.

After the concert, a presentation of Serbian wines was organized at the Embassy in cooperation with the Japanese importer Makoto investments.

The Ambassador Kovač emphasized the rich tradition and culture of producing wine in Serbia, as well as the fact that nowadays that industry was on the rise and that Serbia could boast of the award-winning producers and wines. She expressed her satisfaction that the jubilee of bilateral relations was celebrated in that way also.

The guests had the opportunity to receive detailed information from the Makoto investments company concerning the wine producing regions, grape varieties and wines coming from Serbia, that were presented and tasted during the evening, as well as to taste the specialties of the Serbian cuisine.

The famous musicians Ryohei and Kohei Inoue performed several compositions, playing the traditional Japanese musical instruments.

These events were attended by about 40 guests, including the chairman of the board of directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation Tadashi Maeda , representatives of Japanese investors Toyo Tires, Nippon Express, Mint Japan, Toyota Tsusho and others, as well as a representative of the public relations service of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party Akiko Uchida, President of the Association for Promotion of Music Exchange between Japan and Serbia Etsuko Tsunozaki, composer Mai Fukasawa and other friends of the Embassy.
