Indonesia’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty reaffirmed
On the importance of this meeting, Minister Selaković said that this being the first visit of a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia to Indonesia in more than a decade afforded an opportunity for Indonesia’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia to be reaffirmed.
During the meeting, President Joko Widodo extended his warmest congratulations to President Aleksandar Vučić on his re-election as President of Serbia.
“We also discussed the specific ways of deepening our cooperation, especially in the fields of commerce and trade in agricultural products for which our friends in Indonesia are particularly interested. Moreover, we used the opportunity to talk about political cooperation, dating back to the time of the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement", Minister Selaković noted.
Referring to his talks with his counterpart, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister Selaković said that the topics included cooperation between the two ministries as well as cooperation between Serbia and ASEAN as a model of a very successful political and economic cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Minister Selaković also met with the representatives of Indofood which engages in the production and trade of food products, and the representatives of the Berdikari company.
"There is great interest on the part of Indonesia in the import of Serbian cereals and we also discussed the possibility of placing Serbian apples on the Indonesian market. We considered some concrete actions, and I am convinced that there would be direct communication between the ministers of agriculture in the coming days and that the signing of specific documents would ensue," Minister Selaković explained.
Tomorrow, the second day of his official visit to Indonesia, Minister Selaković will be meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi.
