A lot of room for the intensification of cooperation between Serbia and Zambia

In the conversation, Selakovic reminded of the long tradition of cooperation between Serbia and Zambia from the time of the anti-colonial struggle of African peoples, as well as within the Non-Aligned Movement, which was marked by personal relations between Yugoslav President Tito and the father of Zambian nation Kenneth Kaunda.

Emphasizing that promoting relations with African countries was one of Serbia's foreign policy priorities, which was evidenced by the number of our diplomatic and consular missions on that continent, Selakovic informed his interlocutor that Serbia intended to soon appoint an ambassador to Zambia after many years, once the reconstruction of our Embassy in Lusaka is completed.

The Minister said that our wish was for Lusaka to become a regional centre of Serbian diplomatic activity.

The interlocutors agreed on the need to intensify economic cooperation and sign a number of agreements between the states.

Selakovic informed Minister Kakubo about the results of reforms and economic successes achieved by Serbia, expressing readiness to exchange knowledge and experiences.

The topics discussed also included the epidemiological situation, and Minister Selakovic offered Zambia assistance in the form of anti-covid vaccines.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy took the opportunity to reiterate gratitude to Zambia and its political leadership for the consistent stance on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, emphasizing that Serbia highly appreciated such a position of its traditional friend.
